My Birthday and Surrounding Events Thereof

When I awoke three days ago on Tuesday morning, I soon discovered that we would have additional goats on our farm. What I did not know, however, was that Sparkler was going to have three kids! Unfortunately, two were breech. The vet came out about 11:30 Tuesday night and pulled them. He discovered that while Sparkler was trying so hard to have the first kid, she puntured her uterus. It got infected, and she died yesterday. It was a sad event. On the other hand, all three kids are doing very well. We were all surprised that they made it. Now they're bouncing all over the place. I would put a picture up, but it is unbelievably hard to get a picture with six kids and four kittens. The kittens constantly join in the fray, and Twinkletoes habitually takes her naps with them. :)

Tuesday morning we went to see A Midsummer Night's Dream. It was really good, I enjoyed it. Not only was the play funny (Bottom and Puck were hilarious), it was well done. I cannot imagine having the energy of those actors. We should see more plays.

I did have a really good birthday. It is so great to be seventeen! I even got two phone calls wishing me happy birthday, and I enjoyed them immensely. I don't have any pictures of my phone calls.

Yesterday morning I woke up with an incredibly sore throat. It was enough to make me wish it was my birthday every day. I sent my brother to the store for cough drops. He also came back with Mountain Dew and Whoppers. I am beginning to enjoy the taste of Mountain Dew again, but it sure wasn't good yesterday!

This morning, I determined to make everyone believe I was well. We went to hear the Br. Co. extention agent give a presentation on the Columbia shuttle recovery. It was really neat to see since he was pretty heavily involved in it, helping to run the GPS and GIS systems.

Afterwards, I went and picked up my new glasses. They're pretty similar to my old pair except for the fact that the lenses are about twice as thick as before.

Finally, our bathroom will soon be in working order. Yesterday morning I listened to a really loud noise as Dad cut apart our shower. When the dust settled, he set to work putting in our new shower. It is a good deal smaller, but it's pretty and unmarred.

I thus depart to prepare for a pizza party!
